Terms and Conditions:
These Terms and Conditions apply to appointments and services provided by Jo's Sports and Recovery, the trading name of Joanna Green, sole trader.
By booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Scope of Practice
Jo's Sports and Recovery provides Soft Tissue Therapy, sports massage and associated soft tissue techniques within the therapist's professional training and scope of practice.
Soft Tissue Therapy is not a substitute for medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment. I do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medication.
If your symptoms or medical history suggest that treatment may not be appropriate, or that further investigation is advisable, I may recommend that you seek advice from your GP, physiotherapist or another suitably qualified healthcare professional before treatment continues.
Consultation and Health Information
Before treatment you will be asked to provide relevant information about your health, medication, injuries, operations and current symptoms.
It is your responsibility to provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and to tell me about any changes to your health, medication, pregnancy, injury or symptoms that could affect treatment.
Treatment may need to be adapted, postponed or declined where there is a contraindication or where I believe treatment would not be safe or appropriate.
Your personal and health information is handled in accordance with the Jo's Sports and Recovery Privacy Notice.
Consent to Treatment
I will explain the proposed treatment and you are encouraged to ask questions at any time.
Your consent is voluntary and you may ask for a technique to be changed or stopped at any point during the appointment.
Consent to one appointment does not mean that you have automatically consented to every technique or future treatment.
I will always aim to work within your comfort and tolerance.
Treatment Outcomes
Soft Tissue Therapy may help with muscular tension, discomfort, movement and recovery, but individual responses vary.
No particular outcome, recovery time or improvement can be guaranteed.
Treatment may occasionally cause temporary tenderness, stiffness or soreness afterwards. Please let me know if you experience an unexpected or significant reaction following treatment.
My Right to Decline, Adapt or Stop Treatment
I reserve the right to decline, postpone, adapt or discontinue treatment where there is a reasonable professional or safety reason to do so.
This may include situations where:
- treatment appears unsafe or clinically inappropriate
- your symptoms fall outside my professional scope of practice
- a contraindication is present
- further medical assessment is advisable
- you are intoxicated or significantly impaired by alcohol or drugs
- you are unable to provide informed consent
- your behaviour is threatening, abusive, sexual, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate
- professional boundaries are not respected
- continuing treatment would place either of us at unreasonable risk
This policy will be applied fairly and will not be used to discriminate unlawfully against any client.
Professional Boundaries
All treatments are professional and therapeutic in nature.
Appropriate draping will be used and only areas relevant to the agreed treatment will be uncovered.
Any sexualised behaviour, inappropriate comments, deliberate exposure or inappropriate touching will result in the treatment being stopped immediately. Depending on the circumstances, future appointments may also be refused.
Clients Under 18
Clients under 18 are treated with a parent or guardian present.
Treatment will be explained in a way that is appropriate to the young person's age and understanding, and their wishes and comfort will be respected throughout the appointment.
A parent or guardian will be involved in the consultation and consent process as appropriate.
Cancellations, Rescheduling and Lateness
Please arrive on time for your appointment.
If you arrive 15 minutes late or more, there may no longer be sufficient time to provide a safe and appropriate treatment. The appointment will therefore normally be treated as a no-show. The appointment fee may be payable and any outstanding balance will need to be settled before another appointment can be booked.
If you need to cancel your appointment, please give at least 48 hours notice.
Where an appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or is missed without notice, you may be charged up to the full appointment fee to reflect the time that was reserved for you and the loss caused by the late cancellation. Where I am able to fill the appointment with another client, I will take this into account when deciding whether a cancellation charge is due.
If you wish to reschedule an appointment with less than 48 hours' notice, your existing non-refundable booking fee will be forfeited and a new booking fee will be required to secure the replacement appointment.
I understand that genuine emergencies and unexpected circumstances can occur. Any cancellation charge will therefore be applied reasonably and individual circumstances may be taken into consideration.
Any outstanding cancellation or no-show charges must be settled before further appointments can be booked.
Payment
The price of each service is shown at the time of booking.
By booking and receiving treatment, you agree to pay the stated fee for the service provided.
Payment is due at the time of your appointment unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Payment can be made by:
- cash
- bank transfer
- card payment
Card payments are processed using Tide.
If payment remains outstanding after treatment, I reserve the right to request payment and to decline further bookings until the outstanding balance has been settled.
Changes to Prices or Services
Current treatment prices will be displayed through my website or booking system.
Prices may change from time to time, but any change will not alter the agreed price of an appointment that has already been booked unless this has been clearly agreed with you.
Referrals and Communication with Other Professionals
I may recommend that you seek medical or other professional advice where this would be appropriate.
I will not normally share information about your health or treatment with your GP, physiotherapist or another healthcare professional without discussing this with you and obtaining your consent first.
There may be exceptional situations where information must be disclosed because of a legal requirement or serious safeguarding concern.
Client Responsibilities
For treatment to be as safe and useful as possible, I ask that you:
- provide accurate and relevant health information
- tell me if your symptoms or medical circumstances change
- tell me immediately if anything during treatment feels painful, uncomfortable or inappropriate
- follow any exercise or self-care advice only within your own comfortable ability
- seek medical advice where I have recommended that this is necessary
You remain responsible for deciding whether to follow any general exercise or self-care advice provided.
Privacy and Records
Your personal information, consultation forms and treatment records are handled in accordance with the Jo's Sports and Recovery Privacy Notice.
Adult consultation forms, health information and treatment records are retained for 7 years in accordance with my professional record-keeping requirements.
Where a client is under 18 at the time of treatment, their records are retained until 7 years after their 18th birthday.
Once the relevant retention period has ended, records will be securely deleted or destroyed unless there is another lawful reason why they need to be retained for longer.
